The DGCS Smartlaunch Activity meter is a FREE service to allow you to display a LIVE representation of the current traffic in your store, directly on a web page.
If you own a Game Center that uses Smartlaunch, you may have noticed that in the "Additional Features" section there is a subsection labeled "Web Services". This feature enables Smartlaunch to periodicly update a web service with the current status of your store.
As you might imagine, this is a very handy feature to have if you have a website! A live activity meter enables customers to visit your website and see who’s there and what games they are playing, encouraging more people to visit! It also allows you to check up on the status of your own store while you’re away!
The catch is, Smartlaunch does not provide the necessary tools to completely set up the activity meter. In order to correctly capture, store, and format the output data, you need a bit of programming skill and access to your web server. We noticed that despite Smartlaunch being so widely used, not a lot of people are taking advantage of this very useful feature. So we figure we’d help out by sharing this bit of code with everyone.
